You're right, being a rich guy with a cool old car does not automatically imply that he doesn't understand how to use the car, how to care for the car, or the significance of the car. So yes, there is probably no substantial correlation between driving skill and wealth. If any such correlation exists though it is a positive correlation that exists simply because only the wealthy can afford the machines on which to learn and the time and training. All F-1 drivers are rich these days because they are well paid, but most were born rich anyway. Who else can afford the learning process?
