Ray,

If you see my Rene Herse on the Cr site you might be able to see the following similaries.

Head lugs are the same as my Demontable or very close.

My front smaller platform rack attaches to either side of the fork crown like your tandem.

The Rear carrier attaches to the canti studs.

The fender hardware looks similar but is hard to see.

Stem is a Rene Herse model and the bell is mounted directly as per all the ones I've seen, the bell or timbre is on the RH order form ( I hope Mr Bayliss's super randonnuer bike has this essential feature).

This is a very cool tandem. What about it's history for the benefit of the list.

Me thinks you have a Rene Herse. Mike Kone, Jan Heine please chime in.

<< This has been one lucky year for me. I have been collecting for some time now but just started the lightweights around 2 years ago. My latest find is a Rene Herse (or I think it is) tandem bike. It has some real neat components but let me tell you more. The frame is chrome and you can see the whole bike on my Yahoo photos site at the end of this message. There are no decals or markings to positively ID the bike. I would like to know where you find the serial #s on an RH. I looked all over the bike and cannot find it. It has one crank arm that is definitely an RH but the other 3 are Stronglight and I do not yet know how to tell which model. Mafac cantilever brakes, MAXI CAR hubs, Cyclo 5 rear derailleur, and a nice integrated front derailleur. Great alloy fenders with neat racks. I even like the stems with the hollow to route cables through and the front with the integrated bell. I would like more information on this bike but not sure where to start. I read everything on the CR site and on Harris Cyclery about RH. One nice thing, as you look at these photos you will see the bike as found. I am now polishing up the frame and it is coming out like a mirror with minor pitting marks. I hope to get it on the road this year but I am in no rush as I have plenty of projects to keep me busy for a while. Take a look and tell me what you think and again any photos or help in locating the serial number or id-ing the bike will be appreciated.
