Subject: [CR]Illiterate Cycling Coverage

Am I the only one on the list annoyed by Bill Patrick, the bicycle-illiterate bozo teamed with the excellent Phil Leggett and Paul Sherwen on OLN's TdF coverage? After three weeks of ignorant and asinine comments, he pronounced on this morning's coverage that Armstrong is "now arguably the greatest of all time" or something to that effect. How ridiculous! With four TdF Lance can now claim to be the greatest American road man, not forgetting Major Taylor and the American track heros of the late 19th and early 20th century. But it is ludicrous to compare Lance's 4 TdF, one World Championship, one major classic (Liege-Bastogne-Liege) plus a Dauphine Libere or two, to Merckx's list of 5 TdF, multiple Giros, the Vuelta, and virtually every classic worth mention, some of them like Milan-San Remo no less than 5 times. I'm sure Lance, who is a great friend and admirer of Merckx, would not put himself in Eddy's league. I emailed OLN for Leggett and Sherwen, suggesting they take Patrick aside and educate him in cycling history, but I'm afraid it is a lost cause.
