CR list members:
At this moment, may I remind everyone that the current Tour De France IS NOT suitable subject matter for this list. I personally am very keen to see and experience it but it is not appropriate to be discussed here on the CR!!!!!
The time has come to be more vigilant on your part about off-topic messages to this list. In the past few weeks, I have sent out perhaps 50 + reminders about off-topic messages and/or not signing your posts the way I ask. I grow excessively weary of this repetitive work! My time is worth something and I am beginning to seriously resent these repeated infractions.
Long timer CR list members may recall a year or two ago, a crisis upon my reaching OVER DOSE level of politely asking members to abide by the rules of the road here on the CR list. I feel I am approaching that again. The guidelines are so simple, it frustrates me to an extreme when some of you apparently have no self control at all in posting on this list whatever pops in your mind. The straw that broke the camels back was my returning from vacation to have 400+ messages to sift through and my realizing how many, many did not add information to the communal pool or were off-topic.
So, I think the time has come for me to be more assertive.
New procedure: If a member posts an off-topic message or signs off without having (AT THE END of your message) full name and city & state, I will issue one warning only, then I will remove that member. (Booted!)
Please also remember that this is a private list that you were invited to take part in as long as you abide by the rules. It is not a "public forum" where there is democratic rule. The guidelines are very simple and subject to my interpretation. If you do not like the rules, please resign.
My apologies to the vast number of you (now nearly 700!) members who are considerate and rule cognizant.... Thanks Dale
