What do you think you're doing, Dude? All my efforts to discourage people from moving out here with my descriptions of SoCal as an acrid atmosphered, palm tree choked, gray concrete, sunbaked godfursaken hellhole are being subverted by the picture of paradise you painted above.
Okay, for the sake of not scaring away entrants for the upcoming Velo Rendezvous in October I'll fess up. From my front door in South Pasadena it's 22 miles to the Pacific Ocean. A 50 mile ride will take me to the desert. A 50 mile ride will take me on a climb from 700 feet where I live to 7900 feet plus in a forest of pine trees. A level 40 mile bike path (swept of glass) without a stop to the ocean at Seal Beach. Oh yes, and I almost forgot: Year 'round riding!
