My point exactly. It's obvious that by the time racing bikes had gears
(really since the 30s?) sidepull brakes seem to accommodate a "left front
lever, right rear lever" that would be the preference of the team mechanics.
The difference in cable line when you move the front lever to the right side
of the bike is irrelevant to function.
