Good information! I will add this to the component dating page:

I found two saddles that are so marked, one Italian, one US. Found three Italian that apparently are not marked. As you mentioned, it may have become common after a particular date.
At least some Brooks saddles were marked with year of manufacture. On the metal tag at the back of the saddle? or elsewhere? Over what period? Can anyone help?
