LIST
amazingly I only remember the 172 coming with a box alloy
clincher(no recellection of size) but the interesting feature that I
remember was SIMPLEX BAR ENDS.
bike was light and a quick handler with maybe not the best
choice of colors
we sold quite a few.
Anyone remember a clincher that was worth a S**T before 1972?
I remember MICHELIN ELANS both folding and wire bead in 700c, italian
made CLINCHERS which were built with a sew up like casing.
Big break in CLINCHER came with SCHWINN/PANASONIC/SPECIALIZED
with the SCHWINNS appearing first in the 27" size (any 27'' SUPER
SPORTS out there ?I need them for my FOLLIS TANDEM)
I recall that the reason we used SEWUPS was there was nothing
that compared in a clincher and at my DADS shop we sold DEL MUNDOS for
9.95!!!
I do remember running MICHELIN 50s at 85psi with a good
rim.Other than that there were a couple of DUNLOPS (27s) that rim cut
like crazy.
SPENCE sold some CONSTRICTOR rims but I do not remember the
choice or size of tires.
