Odd. I've never heard of an anodized aluminum alloy that could be scratched with a fingernail.
An old thread on the CR list a while back established that OMAS, MAVIC and SR cranks were all forged by SR in Japan (finished milling done by the individual companies).
I have a set of the OMAS cranks on my mid-70s Wizard (Brian Baylis/Michael Howard #16) and two sets of the MAVIC cranks on two 1980s Vitus (a 979 and a Carbone 7) that have survived being ridden for many years with no scratches to speak of (they all have a pearly clear anodized finish).
