Subject: [CR]What can you tell me about a Dawes Atlantis?

As a follow up of my previous post, and to keep the repair question separate form the identification question ...

I was recently give an interesting frame by a fellow CR member (Chee-Heng Yeong) that is in need of some repair. I am familiar with Dawes, but not all the bikes in their lineup over the years.

This is a Dawes Atlantis. Full Reynolds 531DB. 126mm rear spacing. Clamp on front derailleur and shift levers. Nice braze ons for the derailleur cables, it has two housing stops each side of the BB shell. So a short piece of housing is used to go around the BB for the rear derailleur. And another piece is used to go to the front derailleur (I guess this implies that a derailleur with a housing stop was intended up front). based on this, I suspect it fits well in the CR time limits.

So, the questions I might have are - what kind of a bike was this? When was it sold? What components might it have once had? Anyone have one? Any good words about the frame?

It would be my first full 531 frame - I am very excited about repairing it and building up a bike.

Thanks in advance,
