Liberia !
I'm the very proud owner of a Liberia I picked up cheap on eBay . It was one step away from being stripped for parts .
There is nothing really too special about the one I have , other than it is a nearly perfectly preserved time capsule of "The Bike Boom" of the very early 1970's , and it was probably the top-of-the-line from Liberia .
It's a wonderful smorgasbord of "bike-boom" bicycle bits , Stronglight 93 crankset , Campagnolo Nuovo Record derailleur set ( '72 rear ) , Mafac Competition brake set , Milremo hubs with Super Champion rims , Belleri stem and handlebar . Everything is entirely original except the saddle . And the paint is that dark-brown metallic root-beer , or metallic coffee , depending on what your favorite beverage might be .
The frame retains all of its original stickers and decals , including the Vitus tubing decals ( steel tubing of course ! ) , and the foil head-tube sticker , with its duplicate sticker on the seat tube .
Those foil stickers proudly proclaim :
Liberia
Grenoble France
There is no trace of any model name that I can find .
Of course , that does NOT mean that they actually had all of their bicycles made there . Perhaps some were made in Belgium , some in France , some who knows where !

Sure that isn't "Cycles Francais"? That would mean "French Cycles", which is interesting, because I always thought Liberia was Belgian, or maybe Dutch. Lou, is Liberia in your guide?

I'm new to the CR list. I recently became the owner of a 10 speed bike labeled "Liberia" on one chain stay is a label "Cycles Francis". It is equipped with Sachs/Huret, Stronglight, and Mavic. With drilled out chainrings I'm guessing it is a 1970's model. Any insight you can share would be appreciated. thanks...
