I have used a trike conversion kit for winter riding for many years. This was either a Holdsworth or Higgins conversion. I always put the axle on the same size frame I regularly rode. Ideally you need a frame with not to high bottom bracket height as it helps a little. But most of us use our regular summer hack frame. In the 50's to the early 70's when these contraptions were more common a lot of riders rode with a 26" front wheel and 27"rear's. It was said that this helped handling. I never noticed any difference with this set up. Regarding brakes I had a spare set of forks for the conversion with a hexagonal extension brazed on for one brake and Mafac bosses for the other. A lot of riders used their normal front brake coupled with another front Resillion cantilever or by mounting the other front brake behind the fork crown. Its is far more fun tricycling if you can master fixed wheel riding on the conversion. Happy trundling.

Thats all for now. Keep those wheels spinning, in your memories if not still on the road. Be lucky Mick Butler Huntingdon UK.
