Re: scanning solutions. One time I bought some Gios blue touchup paint from CC, sprayed out a sample panel, and had it scanned by one of the major automotive paint manufacturer's paint match system which simply could not come up with a color match despite the paint manufacturer having lots and lots of toners. I had done everything "right".

Of course, Gios blue is one of the more difficult colors to match, but I have arrived a a fair approximation many times by tinting by eye.

Wouldn't it be nice if major manufacturers that have a "signature" color, like Bianchi "Celeste", would make available a color mix formula for that color so that hundreds of painters around the world would be able to get the color "right" and not have to more or less satisfactorily hand tint a color match.

Nah, that would be too easy.
