I suggest that you put the OMAS headset back on the bike and use it. OMAS is an Italian company that made very fine components and upgrades (often titanium pieces) for Campagnolo components. You can read more about them on the CR site, http://www.classicrendezvous.com/Italy/OMAS.htm A Bikecology catalog that I have from 1981 describes the OMAS headset as 'definitely equal to Campy Super Record'. The OMAS unit used 1/8" balls while the Super Record used 5/32" for their Pista headset and 3/16 for their Strada headset (the idea being that more, smaller balls is better, at least for bearings.)

As to worth, OMAS headsets turn up on eBay from time to time (in a variety of colors). They sell for a third to half of what Campy components go for. They were generally cheaper when new, too - at least in terms of price.

>From the bob jackson I acquired for free I pull off a OMAS headset, I don't know anything about this company. I was thinking about keeping the headset but I am uncertain of it's quality or worth, any help is greatly appreciated with any information.. it just says OMAS Italy and on the top bolt it says the size which is 25.4x24 (no clue to what that means except that I'm guessing the 25.4 means that it's 1" in diameter) It is also silver in color.

There is also a single black Galli caliper, no info on that except it's black and a Campagnolo Strada crankset with black Galli chainrings, any information on these other two parts is appreciated as well.

The crankset looks like the one in this picture http://ebay.com/<blah> http://ebay.com/<blah 5> &item=3638973964&category=56195

unfortuneately I was unable to track down pictures of the headset and brake caliper.
