This auction for a Huret Luxe Competition derailleur reminds me of the one I bought to "upgrade" the Alvit on my Motobecane Grand Touring many, many moons ago. It was cheap, I think either $9 or $15, certainly no more than that, and plenty shiny. I realized that it was not likely to be much of an improvement over the Alvit that it replaced, and I was right. The finish is better, but the mechanism is pretty much identical. Both were lousy shifters with a heavy lever pull.
All this makes me wonder why this one is over $100 with 5 days to go.
