Subject: [CR]1960 Flying Scot for sale

For Sale: 1960 Flying Scot - Serial #336J; per Bob Reid’s excellent Flying Scot website (http://www.flying-scot.co.uk) the “J” makes it a 1960 frame. Asking $750.

Bike is in good mostly original unrestored condition – great shape for a 40+ year old bike; no dents or signs of any frame damage. Paint is good original with nicks and scratches (patina, mojo?)and decals are mostly intact. Cute little rear rack is original. No significant rust that I can see. Go to http://members5.clubphoto.com/bill337710/1799105/owner-7fbe.phtml to see pictures.

23" c-t seat tube and 23" c-c top tube, 17.5" chainstays (mid dropout), +/- 41" wheelbase.

Cranks (50/36 rings) and headset are Stronglight, deraillers Campagnolo front and Huret rear, Campy shifters, 5 speed freewheel, Mavic rims with cheap new Vittoria tubulars mounted but not glued, Brooks B17 saddle on cut down Campy 2 bolt post. I added the early ‘70’s Bluemels Popular fenders.

It came with AVA stem and those odd Mafac brake levers (can’t recall their proper name) that were mounted on the handlebar flats and operated from an upright riding position. I’ve removed that setup and replaced with (incorrect) Cinelli stem and bars and DuraAce levers that stop the Mafac centerpulls rather well. I have an excellent pair of Mafac levers with gum hoods and cables I acquired that will come with it (along with original stem and oddball brake levers). Came with REG handlebar mount cage and I added the funky aluminum bottle (can substitute genuine used cyclesdeORO plastic bottle if preferred).

Short history - I bought the bike a year or so ago, but it is a wee bit small for me. I’m the second owner, it was one of two originally purchased at American Cyclery in San Francisco by a Bay Area couple. I'm told he still has his and their son/heir sold me hers.
