Yo List,

With regard to bike parts, its wheels that get me by the goolies - especially hubs !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Below is my short list of a few hubs i lust for (in no particular order) ...........

Campagnolo record (nr/sr), high flange of course - especially track !!! Perfect proportions, hard to fault.

Harden "oppy" high flange lightweights (dinner plates??) with oil holes (see last pic of series) - anyone got a pair to sell ??? as an aussie and a hub fetishist i feel it of great importance to own a pair before i die - if within budget ;-)

Schwinn paramount high flange "telephone dial" track (scroll down)

Campagnolo c-record high flange "sheriff star" - perhaps the last great hubset ??? (shoulda bought a 2nd pair)

FB/campagnolo gran sport 3 piece high flange (so pretty)

.......... & just when i thought current hubs were entirely gaudy i have heavily mused on the american classic high flange cassette hub (silver of course) mixed with a c-record "sheriff" (or perhaps a seldom seen early chorus/triomphe/victory? 5 cutout high flange) front combined as a wheelset for something aesthetically acceptable and maybe worth trying if you dare ride them clicking, 14 pound unobtainium "just like lance, gilberto, jan etc etc" modern (??) bicycles

Am i odd in that i would like to like phil woods hubs but i think them kinda chunky and stout looking. Many attest to their superb function and durability but i dont pant or obsess or covet them. .......

If i had to argue cases for / wouldn't consider anything else regardless of its period or correctness (in my own experience) .....

San Marco Regal saddles - red from e-richie, white from "A Bicycle Shop" 349 W 14th st. 212 691 6149 ;-)

F.I.R. rims

DT spokes & brass nipples

Sachs/sram/sedis?? chains (PC48/58/68)

Suntour ultra-six freewheels (for building low dish wheels on 126mm or wider axles with some creative spacing)

Silca frame pumps with campy steel pump heads (even if for looks alone). I like em plain ol' all chrome/plastic - never understood the matching frame colo(u)r fetish thing but then again my girlfriend gets "penis enlargment" spam in her e-mail inbox - some things i just don't care to understand ????

Peace & love

Ciao, Ben "likes a big flange" Kamen NYC

p.s. congrats to the English rugby fans on the list
