Subject: [CR]November BVVW meeting report

Hi everybody,

The November BVVW meeting last Thursday was a nice change of pace. Instead of cramming into the bowels of Emmy's bike shop, sitting on milk crates and discussing vintage/classic bike lore, we (well some of us, at least) crammed into Joe Bender-Zanoni's BMW for a field trip across town to a gallery opening reception at A Bicycle Shop. It was a rainy (stormy?) night. Newcomer Tom, who wisely decided to ride to the meeting, raced us across town on his Gitane tandem. We finally caught up to him, going the opposite direction (why?) when we realized we had passed our destination, due to the engrossing vintage bike discussions being held in the car. Loads of laughs.

We were graced with the attendance of a few new members: Tom Ward, Anthony Gulino? and Phil Miano. Others in attendance were Omnipotent Despot John Pergolizzi, Jamie Swan, Joe Bender-Zanoni, Josh Berger, Bill ?, Mordecai Silver and myself. I hope I got everybody.

The Gallery opening was a relaxed affair, with Brooklyn Lager flowing, and varied bike folk milling about. Guarded, Valet bike parking was available, and there were quit a few steeds stacked up against the signposts, in the rain.

Taliah Lempert's paintings were pretty neat. Plenty of classic content in them, with patina captured skillfully. Her website is pretty innovative too with some of her works documented in progress. Very cool stuff. http://www.bicyclepaintings.com

Some of us adjourned to an old steakhouse around the corner and feasted on massive quantities of Beef.

'Till next time. Hopefully we can arrange a few vintage rides to complement the meetings. Talk is good. Riding is also good.
