Hello Lynn , ( on list )
Since Jamie has not replied in person , I'll barge in .
When I read that message , I wondered if some folks might misunderstand .
It is wry wit . It is sardonic humor .
" . . . banned the use of L.F. hubs... no matter what size the flanges were. "
Meaning that they banned the use of the abbreviation , " L.F. " .
Nothing against either small flange , or high flange .
But due to a few too many mistakes ( which can be EXPENSIVE mistakes in a bicycle shop ) , they banned the use of the abbreviation " L.F. " in that shop .
Hey Jamie , did I understand it correctly ?
Me personally , I've been trying for years to avoid not only the abbreviation " L.F. " , but also the terms low flange and large flange . I just thought if we all started calling them small flange and high flange ( and medium flange if appropriate ) , there would never again be any confusion .
