All, In the midst of packing for our newly weds Southern California sojourn, I'm confronted w/ what to bring to Cali. so that I can bring some of those also to North Carolina. Since I've just sold 11 bikes (!), I will only have 15 to "play" with. Most will go into storage. A few to SoCal, and only one or two to N.C. For sure The Curt Goodrich that was built for Chris Beyer will be S.C. bound. That has been my intention since being given the privilege of ownership/caretaker. She is a dream ride which I have discussed w/ Curt. And very beautiful. Those hammered fenders get lots of "WOW"s in Prospect Park Brooklyn. The bike is about 90% as Chris originally built her. Saddle, stem, and bars are mine. I would love to take the 1957 Cinelli, but I may have to disappoint Harvey S. After all, little Miss broken stay's did make North Carolina last year. Something Italian huh? What about the 1960ish Masi Special I just sold to Maurice? Na, not mine ( I'm not crazy, she was WAY too big for me). And she was already seen at Velo Rendezvous in Oct. Gotta be fair with the harem. Hummm.... 1977ish Benotto track bike; my old race iron. Maybe. You'll just have to showup to find out. Or be a turkey and see the j-pegs the month after. But then you would also miss the "AUCTION"! Any one staying at Battleground last year will surely recall the improvisational auction on the top floor. With ME as auctioneer! I've been told by at least one attendee that that was their FAVORITE memory! So..... If youse guy's and gals bring stuff (any thing), I will hold an auction. Date and time to be announced. This is an "inner circle" event and is not approved or sanctioned by any one but me. And what if we took like say 25% of the proceeds and donated them to some good cause? If this sounds good and you've read this far, drop me a line privately to let me know your in. I've got a good charity in mind. Oh yea, I'll also have one of the latest creations of a certain Southern Californian former Masi employee, former Wizard building builder outfitted with 2004 Campagnolo Record equipment! I hope. After seeing Dale's naked beauty in N.C, I laid my money down and have dreamt of colors and round forkblades and seatlug clusters since. Reality will meet fantasy again in Southern California some time this winter. A "Tropical Breeze"? And youse all will get to delight in awe or gasp in horror at the result. But ya gotta be there to form your own opinions.
