I bought a pair of Toutan toe straps for my Zeus back in 1981 while attending Washington State University. They are a white rubbery material with a fibrous internal mesh. I bought 'em at a small bikeshop in a quonset hut in Moscow Idaho.
They look about the same today as the day I bought 'em -- something I can't say for any of the leather straps that I've used. A year ago I moved them to my current flagship (another Zeus).
