robbie asked:
anyone familiar with TOUTAN toe straps? ============================================
Rubbery/plasticy? Colorful? I sold them in my shop in the late 70's. They were stiff and durable and I thought they were good straps, for very little money. About $.45/pair, wholesale, 1977. They looked spiffy, and didn't stain the way leather straps did.
Funny story about them. I put them in a cup on the counter, marked at $2/pair, gloating over how much margin I had in them. No one bought them. The following season I put them on the counter in the same cup, marked at $8.95 (a buck less than Binda Extras, if I recall correctly. They were gone in a few days. An interesting lesson in perceived value.
