Anyone seen the 1949 British film "A Girl, A Boy, A Bike". Starring Honor Blackman, Diana Dors and Anthony Newley. The film was written by Ted Willis who was a communist in his youth. Cycled with the Spartacus & Clarion CC. Both left wing cycle clubs. The film is loosely based on club cycling life in this era. Loads of BSA, ladies Raleigh Lenton's and Paris's. Plenty of aluminum drinking bottles with corks and straws. Look out for the South of France bars. BSA supplied the bikes along with Paris's. Tom Board once told me that Harry (Spanner) Rensch was a technical advisor on this production.

Ted Willis ended up as a lord in the Hose of Lords. Honor Blackman as Mrs.Gale in the Avengers and Pussy Galore in the Bond film. Diana Dors became Britain's answer to Marilyn Monroe. Starred in many films and had amongst many others a famous affair with Americas Rod Steiger. Turned out to be a bit of an old bike herself. Marvelous film set in the beautiful Yorkshire Dales. Check it out.

Best wishes and be lucky. Michael Butler Huntingdon UK.
