Are we sure we are speaking the same language here? In the UK if we say Hard Currency referring to the US Dollar or Euro, it means it's easy to cash at your bank. I have often taken Dollar bills (as Malrees2 on Ebay), and pay them into my local Barclays Bank.
Maybe just 2 versions of the English language getting confused again??
