I do offer Paypal with a 5% surcharge to bidders from North America on my Ebay sales and on direct sales to CR members. The reason I make the surcharge is that foreign sellers are charged an extra 1% by Ebay compared to US sellers and then they are penalised by an exchange rate that is normally about 4% worse than I can get by exchanging $ here. Bear in mind that these extra costs are all on top of the normal Ebay fees of about 3%. And for items listed on Ebay.co.uk in GBP I get charged 17.5% tax too on the Ebay fees but unlike Martin I don't turn over enough to have to pay and charge VAT on my sales. I am very happy to take $ in cash (and I am prepared to take most other curriencies too!) as I can change them at a very competitive rate without commission in the local branch of Marks and Spencers. But for many amounts the 5% I charge for Paypal payments is less than the cost of registered postage and for larger items not a lot more. It is only when the amounts are far larger than the cost begins to add up for buyers.
