With all this talk about light-lighter-lightest Classic bike era (vis~a~vis 1986 or earlier) machines I am beginning work on such a bicycle, predomitely with my close-at-hand parts to build a superlight hillclimb bike. This will be for an assault at the Fargo Street Hillclimb in March. Fargo Street is the steepest street (33% ave ~ 35% max /STS) in Los Angeles. I expect to use a fixed gear....and an preparing 2 bicycles.

**Off topic*** The first mount will be a post classic bicycle (l995?) beer can stripped to a minimum....It currently stands @ 14 lbs as a 16 speed clicker...( minus the rear brake, cogs, derailleurs etc. it should drop into the upper 5 kilo range) I kinda remember keeping this under a spend of $1250 or so...light and cheap! ***Off topic***

The second mount will be a Classic era chrome-moly filliteer with stuff similar to the setup Bob Freeman mentioned in his last post. Who else is up for the Classic Diet????

... So lets get a contingent out there with some olde classics!!!! *In Fact* I will drum up a very cool prize for the lightest Classic bicycle successfully ridden to the top.....and a premium on top of that if it's a 10 speed with 2 brakes (as opposed to a fixed gear) Please email if you are interested....I'll plan a pre-run if possible.
