Among my recent purchases was the 1962 Cyclist's Touring Club handbook. I may carry it anywhere I'm likely to encounter older English bikes - the Bluemels ad is practically a field guide to their mudguard models!
This copy came with a bonus - the 1968 Cycling Enthusiasts Bicycle Touring Club trip schedule. Do any of these names ring a bell? The president was Joseph L. Cooper, Jr., and the secretary-treasurer was Mary Jane Cooper. The VP was Al Taylor - and all had Collingswood NJ addresses. Rides met on Saturday's and holidays at the Fisherman's Diner, "1/2 mile east of Tacony-Palmyra Bridge on Route 73." The Sunday rides left Horn & Hardart Restaurant. Bicycle training programs were held at the AYH and Memorial Hall. And the Ladies Cycling Group met Wednesdays at 9:30 ... does this trigger memories of the 1960s cycling scene anyone wishes to share?
Also - any reviews on "From the Pen of J.B. Wadley," the apparently new compilation of his writings? Does anyone know offhand if it includes the stuff from "Old Roads and New?" I see it's available in the U.K. ...
