I was not 'dissing' Jack's Paramount either, God knows that I am badly bittem by the Paramount bug myself, owning six of the classic (1941 through 1973) models. I agree with all that has been said here about them recently. They do indeed hold a special place in the vintage market and seem to find a ready home as soon as they go on the block.
I guess I started this discussion by stating that I did not feel that even an NOS 72 was a bit steep at $2500. I was very happily surprised to see that I was dead wrong. The actual value is precisely what the market will pay, and the market has spoken loud and clear on this one. Of course, and as I was discussing with Richard Schwinn yesterday, this hardly bodes ill for the value of classic Paramounts in general. Not exactly a sad day for us classic Paramount owners. Sorry. None of my pristine Paramounts are for sale.
