axle intersects the imaginary line - Why? This is how I set them out of habit but, don't understand why. Does technical data say this is the best location? Not being nit picky, merely looking for the rationale behind habits, customs and wives' tales. Thanks. Richard Cielec Chicago, Illinois

I agree David, my only addition is to make sure the wheel is dished correctly (of course that is rudimentary, but how many times are we surprised when it isn't?), and a good starting point is so axle intersects the imaginary line formed by extending the seatstays down through the dropouts. (Any other adjustments to compensate for freewheel/derailleur compatibility aside.) Geez, that sounds so much more complicated than it is!
