Subject: [CR]What's in my garage, living & dining rooms, hallway and elsewhere.

I'm a bit late on this thread of discussion, as I've not been reading much CR of late, but thought I'd get my list out. As Joanne and I live in about 800 square feet of space, bikes are everywhere as are parts etc, but somehow she has put up with my collecting for years. Below is my list of cycle. Hetchinspete Otherwise known as the alias Peter Naiman of Boston, MA

1. 1935 Hetchin's Brilliant with vibrant stays. 5th oldest surviving Hetchins listed on the Official Hetchin's Register held by Len Ingram of the V.C.C. and oldest in the U.S. Completely restored before I purchased it with all correct period components, including working lighting system, and clear Bluemels fenders etc. 2. 1936 Hetchin's Brilliant with vibrant stays. 7th oldest surviving on the Register. Built as a single speed racer. Complete but poor restoration, and will be restored as some point. 3. 1937 Hetchin's Anglo Continental with Vibrant stays. Complete with all correct late 30s components, but not sure if they are original to frameset. The oldest surviving Anglo on the Register. Frameset was repainted in either the late 70s or early 80s. 4. 1938 Hetchin's Anglo Continental with Vibrant stays. Second oldest surviving Anglo frameset, and being restored by Cleveland Bikespray in the UK. Purchased as frameset with very poor 1980s paint work. Will be fully restored as single speed racer with 6-day decals, and rare early pressed brass head badge. Complete with original bill of sale. 5. 1938 Hetchin's Anglo Continental "Special" all chrome with Vibrant Stays. Complete with early 50s components as built by the original owner. Bike was purchased in 1938 from Hetchins by the first owner, rebuilt in about 1951 with newer equipment by the owner. The owner past away in the early 60s and the bike sat in storage until purchased through Hilary Stone. One of only two Continental Specials on the Register. 6. 1939 Hetchin's Trio. Complete with all original equipment and verified with the V.C.C. Very rare model, as possibly only six are known to have been built, may be the only survivor according to Len Ingram. Many unusual features for 1939 including flip/flop rear wheel with 3 spd freewheel for derailleur on one side and single speed gear for track or 6-day on the other, internal headset, and came with two forks, one for touring and one for track. 7. 1946 Hetchin's Super Special. With Joe Bell in California for restoration. Will be fully restored with correct period components, and might be ready for Cirque. One of only about 24 to survive according to the Hetchins.Org website. 8. 1949 Hetchin's Nulli Secundus 6-day prototype model with Vibrant Stays and fluted seat tube. The very first Nulli ever produced. According to Tom Rawson, this frameset might be the starting point of the Latin Series Lugs at Hetchins. Purchased as frameset fully restored but un built. Has been built as a 6-day racer with correct period components. 9. 1950 Hetchins Magnum Opus 6-day with Vibrant Stays. Complete with all original equipment as purchased from original owner. Being shipped over as I write. 10. 1952 Hetchin's Magnum Bonum frameset with Vibrant Satays, Serial #HET3. One of five custom built framesets produced for the Romford Team to ride in the 1952 Tour de Brittain. To this date only two are known to have survived and both surfaced after 50 years in hiding within two weeks of each other. Was repainted by Alf Hetchins in the 1970s. 11. 1955 Hetchin's Magnum Opus Phase II with Vibrant Stays. Was restored with improper 1980s Campag dropouts, but will be restored at a latter date with proper 1950s Agrati dropouts. Built as a custom bike for now with NOS Campag Super Record from early 80s. 12. 1962 Hetchin's Experto Crede with Vibrant Stays. Purchased from Michael Kone and Bicycle Classics several years ago as a restored frameset and rebuilt with late 50s to early 60s Campag Gran Sport. 13. 1971 Hetchin's Hellenic Spyder. One of approximately 65 or so Hellenics produced between 1966-1971. Purchased from original owner last year, and complete with all original Campag Nuevo Record Group and American Classic hubs. This is my personal favorite. 14. 2000 Hetchin's Millenium or one of fifteen limited edition frameset produced to celebrate the year 2000. Built as a custom bike with 1980 Campag Super Record. 15. 2003 Hetchin's with Pacenti Lugs and a custom build for Reg Stocking of San Fransisco by David Miller. Only second Hetchins known to have been built with unusual curved seat tube. 16. 1950 Freddie Grubb, with possible original paint and components. With all the Hetchins in my various storage areas, this is my favorite. 17. 1980 Mercian Vincetore. Lime gold with white head tube with Gold Galli group. 18. 1969 Raleigh Professional with Campag Nuevo Record group. Will be up for sale soon. 19. 1968 Tigra Professional with mostly Stronglight and Huret components. 20. 1946 Hobbs of Barbicon. Completely restored with period correct components. 21. 1917 Ivor Johnson, in fair condition needing restoration.
