Subject: [CR]Respacing Phil Wood hub for singlespeed?

Todd Kielman asked:

Is it possible to respace older Phil freewheel hubs for dishless singlespeed use?I'm not familiar with the spacers on these.Any advice would be most welcome. +++++ Yes, if you can get the correct axle stub ends. They came in several lengths, and I was able to buy alternatives from Phil Back Then, so have a few spares of various lengths. The other trick is doing the change-out without stressing the bearings; I've lost access to the hydraulic press I used to use, which was big enough to hold a whole wheel. Please don't ask me how I do it now, but it is not a precision process... :-)
