A few random thoughts on this one for what its worth. This is a super rare bb. And for once, rare is really used correctly. But it does seem a bit silly. A super high tech bb for cottered cranks - alloy stronglights were available in the 30's. Also, are needle bearings the right kind of bearing for this type of application? (not sure, haven't thought about it). Finally, the the bb is nearly useless for a high value French bike since it is threaded bsc. Lots of fantastic British bikes out there, but they aren't as valuable as the French machines so nearly $700 for the bb seems a bit crazy when that represents so much of the bike's value in most cases. So - the price makes sense if someone needs a crazy piece of high performance bookshelf material, but this one really does push the limits of common sense a tad. Mike Kone in Boulder CO
