I think the rarity of the bike and the quality of the restoration makes this bike worth every bit of the $2,590 winning bid. To the right buyer it may even be a bargain. I believe that an unrestored Folgore in decent condition and with racing provenance would command an even higher price.

Based on the observations made by Dave Anderson, I would be interested to know whether the restoration was entirely period-correct.

Interestingly, the penultimate bid raised the price by a full $1,000 (from $1,400 to $2,400). Why would the bidder do that? Did the bidder want to thin out the bidding herd, so to speak, or did he want to make sure that the reserve was met? I can't think of any other reason, but then again, I'm new to eBay and auctions in general, do maybe I'm missing something.
