Greetings to all and a huge thanks to Chuck and Sherry for a putting on this bicycle extravaganza........ This was my first Velo Rendezvous..... I didn't know what to expect.... I was unable to attend on Friday or Saturday, I know I missed out on the camaraderie of the vintage rides and the expertise passed on at the symposiums............ I found out about the "CR" maybe a couple of years ago and have tried to attend as many of the vintage rides and events as time permits and have enjoyed every minute with the local SoCal contingency and look forward to the ongoing adventure........ Arriving on Sunday, for the "big show", I was a little apprehensive about bring my measly bikes, thinking...... aw..... these are nothing compared to......( insert any holy grail of bikes here)........... but within minutes after arriving I had a very nice compliment from a fellow I just met, Fritz,(??) down from Vancouver who's bikes were waaay shinier than mine, hey!! by the way....what's your secret!!??...... At any rate, once on the grounds, I was in sensory overload!!! ........I brought a lady friend with me and hoped it wasn't going to be too boring for her, I mention this because she had great fun watching a bunch of grown men act like kids and drool over cool old bikes......... I found myself going through the rows of bikes, day dreaming like a kid, envisioning myself riding them............ wondering how they felt.........oh....... sorry, back to this...... Also, during the day, I was able to meet several guys with whom I have exchanged messages or bought or sold a bike or part with and putting a face on the name and seeing a similar passion in their eyes..... just made it all worth while, To sum it up in one sentence,..... the whole day felt like a giant family reunion, fine fellowship, food and fun for all......... well, at least for this bicycle enthusiast......... I am looking forward to next year, maybe I'll find a one of those grails, by then.............
Cheers to all,
John Morrison
