Some instances of weird bicycle economics :

1. Bought an ALAN 1970's anodized aluminum frame for the nuovo record parts. My rationale : the aluminum frame or fork will fail soon so i might as well salvage the parts before they are damaged. three months later I fell in love with it and never sold the frame.

2. Buy a TREK 510 for the campy triomphe grouppo. Reason : its only a TREK, and $130 for a grouppo for the ALAN bike is a steal.

3. bought a set of handlebars, stem, and brake levers. Reason : campy nuovo record world-logo hoods. handlebars (GB map-of-england) were an extra bonus.

4. If you are looking for christophe old-logo toe clips, then $35 for a set of used MKS sylvan pedals w/clips makes perfect sense.

5. I love blurry or no-picture ebay auctions. This has yielded me a raleigh gran sport ($25+shipping), and a set of NOS world-logo hoods ($14).

6. People hate french threads. So I bought NOS ATOM 700 french pedals (thanx bike classics) and saved about $20 on a set of french threaded stronglight cranks. Everybody wins except those who hate french cranks.
