One more. The Prestige DT shifter clamps, some of which have a pretty nice logo, can be used to mount the brazeon version of Simplex retrofrictions as clampons. This is not trivial, because barzeon Retrofrictions DO NOT mount on retrofriction clamps. Can't remember if it was the fixing bolt thread, the post diameter, or both, that was different between brazeon and clampon versions. I once bought a bag of NOS Prestige shifters cheap from Mike Kone when he had Bicycle Classics, trashed the plastic levers, and used the clamps to mount brazeon retrofrictions on several bike with no brazeon bosses.

Simplex prestige red-label rear mech, used, $5 (same as list price in 1973) Simplex prestige red-label rear mech, NOS, $10-$20

Simplex front delrin parallelogram mech, $5 (rusty), $10(used), $20(NOS) Simplex delrin shifters, $0 Simplex criterium shifters, $10 (NOS on ebay NOW, 15 of them new-in-bag)

The prestige line is highly undesirable, because the shifters snap and as the rear mechs age they loose stiffness and get sloppy. Here are some pirate applications for prestige parts :

prestige rear derailleur - source of jockey wheels for high-end Simplex SLJ mechs. not a good source for cable hangers.

prestige shifters - source of barrel adjusters for raleigh rear centerpull cable stop on 1970's nottingham bikes.

prestige shifters - can be turned around and stripped of levers to make a half-decent downtube cable stop (seen on a bike in paris, france, march 2004)
