Donald Gillies, Jerry Moos, and Mark Stonich have enlightened us with uses for some of the Simplex Prestige parts.

<snip> some pirate applications for prestige parts :

prestige rear derailleur - source of jockey wheels for high-end Simplex SLJ mechs. not a good source for cable hangers.

prestige shifters - source of barrel adjusters for raleigh rear centerpull cable stop on 1970's nottingham bikes.

prestige shifters - can be turned around and stripped of levers to make a half-decent downtube cable stop (seen on a bike in paris, france, march 2004)

prestige front derailleur - source of braze on cable stops, way back when framebuilding supplies were hard to source here in the midwest. http://bikesmithdesign.com/fittings/SimplexCableStop.jpg

I also used 4 of the two bolt front clamp halves to attach a kiddie stoker BB shell to the rear seat tube of my '64 Gitane Tandem

+++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ Well, if you are as clever as e-Richie but not as classy, you might use a pile of the two bolt front clamp halves to make elegant drawer pulls for chest of bike parts drawers. My memory is that boatloads of these came in as replacements for the snap-crackle-and-pop white Delrin originals, which (alas) I haven't seen in a couple of decades.

e-Richie uses Campy, of course, for his drawer pulls. :-)
