Bruce Robbins asks:

"Can any UK list member suggest a good place to have cranks and other = parts rechromed?"

Prestige Electro Platers at Wombwell, Near Barnsley in South Yorkshire, have always done a good job for me. Brian, the owner, is a cyclist himself and knows, for example, that hub barrels should still be round when polished. They are not wonder workers, and if a piece is badly corroded you will have to accept that logos may vanish while polishing down to good metal. At some times of the year they are extremely busy and you will have to wait for 8 to 10 weeks. They have recently plated some pre-war and 1950s BOA, BSA, and CONSTRICTOR Pedals for me, which I have stripped down to individual plates before sending to them. They have then polished the plates and barrels and returned them to me for re-assembly, and then chromed them as complete units when assembled. Their telephone number is 01226 751389.
