I've read, perhaps on this list, that certain upgrades were done by buyers of Raleigh Internationals back in the day of purchase. One that I recall was to swap out the campy high flange/tubular wheelsets for clinchers built up on Phil Wood hubs. Did any such similar style of upgrade go on with the bars and stem, or were those pretty much acceptable for the time? I think it was quite common to have bars with widths of 38 cm, which I find sort of uncomfortable today. Any comments on the style of changes made to Raleigh Internationals from the early 70s? Were there other makes/models that underwent other common changes when purchased new? (This differs from buying a frameset and picking and choosing parts to build it out).
