I hope this is an appropriate question for the list, if not I apologize. At the end of last month, I experienced a house fire in which most of my possessions were destroyed. Luckily most of my collection was in the garage, or in the basement and was relatively unharmed. I am now in the process of putting together a list of the items I lost due to the fire, and the reason for this post. Some years back, I purchased a set of 36H wooden sew-up rims for use on a '38 Paramount track bike. I cannot remember the manufacturer of the rims, but they were brand new and still wrapped in paper. Unfortunately the rims were stored under my back porch, directly under where the blaze originated. While they didn't burn, they were subjected to a large amount of water from the efforts of the fire department. The rims are now badly warped, moldy and beyond hope of recovery. Unfortunately I cannot recall how much I paid for these rims, and need an approximate value to submit to the insurance company. Does anyone have an opinion on what they might be worth? I believe I was told that they were manufactured in the early 60s.
Many thanks in advance,
