It isn't that the Japanese "won't bring cool bike stuff into the US" as you put it..

Many (maybe most) small Japanese manufacturers simply have no means to get their products into the US unless it is ordered by a US based importer (like Rivendell who sells to consumers) or importer/distributor (like QBP who sells to bicycle dealers).

You are making it sound like there is Japanese conspiricy. There isn't.

Basically, if enough consumers ask for (or demand) a product, eventually the bicycle industry will respond.
