Marcus, if you're gonna come across the bay to Berkeley check out both Missing Link's retail and repair shops, across the street from each other on Shattuck near University Ave. The repair shop has a timeline of Suntour derailleurs in the front window, bunch of cool old bikes hanging and/or in the window, old wool jerseys, basically a changing museum. Their ad-hoc collage art is pretty funny too. The retail shop's got a neat Pedersen and a curly-stay Hetchins, IIRC.
Also, check out Velo Sport (and the Pogliaghi tandem, still in the window) on Martin Luther King Ave., also in Berkeley. If Peter Rich is there try to get some of his time, and check out the old photos in the repair area. (Ask first.)
