Hello all:
I just joined the list. My name is Brad Upton. I live in beautiful and bicycle friendly Corvallis, Oregon (USA) in the heart of the Willamette Valley (western Oregon). I am a year round bicycle commuter, and in fact use my bikes for almost all of my transportation needs. I also love to ride recreationally, both day rides and touring, on and off road.
I have several bikes, a few of which might be of mild interest to the group:
On topic bikes: 1953 Raleigh Sports 3 speed, "refurbished" with a variety of aluminum parts (crankset, bars, stem, seatpost, rims, brakes) - (is this cruiser on topic?) 1974 Raleigh International, set up as a fixed gear 1978 Raleigh Super Course, converted to an internal hub transmission (1951 Sturmey Archer AM medium ratio three speed)
I have a few other bikes that may also be somewhat on topic: 1987 Specialized Expedition tourer 2003 Rivendell Rambouillet 2004 Rivendell Atlantis
This is not intended to be a commercial solicitation (rather an example of my interests), but I'm also looking for a new bike or frame with which to build up a winter fun bike. The idea is a lightweight lugged steel bike with long chainstays and room for 32 mm (actual) width tires and fenders (using either side pull or centerpull brakes). I hope to set something up with half step plus granny gearing. I've considered converting my fixed International into this bike, but at 23.5 inches (c-t) the International is a tad small for me. Plus I don't want to take off the original Campy Record crank and BB on this bike.
Anyway, I'm glad the list exists and happy to have joined.
Best regards,
Brad Upton
