It was great to see so many familiar faces at the Denver veloswap. This year I actually came back with cash. The 12 step program is working!
Despite the general enthusiasm, I'm afraid that the overall quanitity of vintage stuff is declining at this event. Then again, I said that about 4 years ago, and the next year I scored a 1960 Legnano and a Urago with the rare Juy Record 60, and another bike with a stronglight 57 crank.
I can't say for sure, but I think that at next years event it might be fun for a bunch of us CR folks to take out a block of tables together and instead of trying to sell a whole lot, it might be fun if we each brought 2 or 3 bikes simply to display.
Related to this, I'd like to try to help get more rides and social activities going with my fellow CR folks in the Denver/Boulder/Ft Collins area. I know that some have been occuring already, but maybe myself and a few others put in some additional efforts more could be done here.
I kinda wish that I could have justified the Taylor tandem - it was very nice. Fortunately, I convinced a good friend to buy the Witcomb track bike (painfully nice workmanship - painfully too big for me). I did buy the red Mercian frame with the snazzy repaint for a gentle $125. Too bad the seller decided to put the price tag right over the only dent on the frame.
Anyway, it was a blast and I'll be sure to be there next year.
