I have three "fairly early" Campy Record FDs that are pretty early, want to sell 2. $17 ea includes US shipping.
"Fairly early" means Pre-CPSC, pre-Circlip. But, they do not have the long extension for the outer cable stop, like the very early ones.
And, even though the units look pretty nice and have nice shiny outer plates, each has the same problem: 5 mm threading (F) to receive the cable stop bolt stripped. So, each has had the F threading replaced with a steel stop bolt (5 mm) and a Genuine toe clip nut with integral washer for the cable stop. The trick was finding 5mm machine screws with very thin heads, to clear the adjusting screws, which are real close.
Bottom line: work fine, not much pivot wear, look fine until Ole Eagle Eyes points and says, "That's a patched-up cable stop assembly," and all you can say is, "well, it's one of those details that Campy screwed up, but a buddy got it to work right, and it won't fail again, because we don't have steel screws overtorquing the soft aluminum body threads any more."
And, if you don't like 'em they are returnable, minus the shipping cost. Will sell separately, or consider interesting trades of whatever related to vintage bikes.
