What is the best way in all your opinions to clean an old derailleur? Here are a few specific questions to help guide the answers.

1) Would you clean all (metal) derailleurs this way? NR, old Chrome Record ...

2) Do you worry about the plastic pullies?

3) Do you worry about cleaning out any oil that should be there in the various pivots? What is the best post cleaning treatment?

4) And not to start a nightmare thread, but what chemicals do you use?
