"A guy" named Ron Skarin was a 2-time Olympian, and while riding as the so-called "factory" rider established some (still standing) world speed records as recorded by that "Human Powered Vehicle Association" (IHPVA.) Quite the trackie as I recall seeing him around even up in San Jose from time to time? flying 200? Others I remember from then were Len Nitz and "Fast" Freddy Markham...these are the guys that would discourage a pudge like me from EVER trying to get into racing again, even if it were "only" Master's Class.

Yea, I used to see him come out to the local weekly Pasadena, CA "Rose Bowl rides", with a bike with a carrier on it. I think nobody noticed who he was. He must live around there.
