And of course, restored or original bikes that came with them.

It was common (judging by photos of racing in the thirties, forties, and early fifties) to remove the fenders and just leave the forward section of the two piece front fender for racing. This was also the period when all race bikes had fender eyelets on the dropouts and fork ends and came with full fenders. Winter training required fenders.
