Speaking of rub down letters, Do any of you know where there's a wide choice of fonts and styles?? Is there a company out there that sells them on-line

The auction states that it is a one-owner '60 Masi Special and that's what it looks like to me. Changes done to a loved bicycle over a period of years, including a repaint without the correct decals being available and additional braze-ons added at the time of the repaint.
Masi Gran Criterium decals with the "Gran Criterium" cut off and the word "SPECIAL" added none too well with rub down letters.
It is also very likely that the owner lived close by Cupertino Bike Shop (south of San Francisco area) and Spence Wolfe judging by the extended cage mod to the derailleur and the TA triple with the strange axle. You can even make out in one photo that the rear wheel is tied and soldered on one side, another Spence "trademark."
Chrome looks like it is great shape, which is half the battle in a restoration. Go for it, Brian!
