Peter Kohler's challenge is actually a ride up Angeles Crest here in Southern California at Velo Rendezvous this July. A 100 mile out and back from the Rose Bowl at 700 ft. to Dawson Saddle at 7900 ft. with over 10,000 feet of climbing. 1950 or earlier bikes, his a Raleigh with Sturmey-Archer 4-speed (what else!!!) and me on a Simplex equipped Bianchi 10-speed. Which of course will prove nothing or everything, depending...
I feel it all has something to do with the drinking water in Washington DC.
